Design Fundamentals Study

Design Brief

through the Design Fundamentals study I was able to explore main design features such as point, line, and even typography. I was able to explore design aspects hidden in everyday life. I then took these design fundamentals and created computer designs that I then related to a theme for my final design.

For my theme I ended up focusing on a street art graffiti driven design. Focusing on art that is usually overlooked yet you can see it everywhere. Throughout my process I was able to capture different street art aspects and bring those into my design.

Computer Exploration:

I created designs that focused on hierarchy and movement to draw the viewers eye to specific aspects of the design.

Real World Application:

I focused on each design fundamental specifically and found real world applications to help broaden my understanding of how the design fundamentals can work with anything.

Recreation:

After gathering photos from the real world application I went in and recreated the feel and design flow that is found in many street art designs many of which are graffiti lettering.

Final Application:

From this exploration I was able to create a graphic that put the design fundamentals to use and represented my theme of street art.
